The Strelitzia Reginae has a striking physical presence that cuts dramatic architectural shapes into her surrounds with her upright stems and fanning leaf structure. I totally imagine as a person she would be that lofty, creative architecture student type. Running on caffeine and adrenaline this chick looks like she’s been working all night on her slanty desk drawing under her solo desk light. She definitely wears high waisted culottes and thick rimmed tortoise shell glasses to the lectures for which she is perpetually running late.
Characterised by its elongated glossy green leaves and innate tropical feel the Strelitzia Reginae is an absolute staple in any indoor jungle. The Strelitzia grows beautifully upright and each tall stem fans out into a long almond shaped vibrant green leaf. This plant doesn’t always flower indoors but if it does it produces unique bird shaped flowers with a long ‘beak’ like shaft and feathered spikes in orange and purple. Even without the flowers this is a truly striking, smile inducing specimen.
